Our Leadership

Bill Cooney

President & Chief Innovation Officer

Bill founded MedPoint Digital in 1990.

He has recently shifted his attention to the Innovation Lab at MedPoint, with the goal of developing powerful new digital solutions for leading global biopharma companies.

Bill’s career has spanned positions at Wyeth/Pfizer, AbbVie (pharmaceuticals), Abbott (diagnostics) and Discovery/Publicis Healthcare.

Thomas J. Cooney


Tom joined MedPoint Digital in 1993 and has helped establish the company as a leader in digital technology for the global biopharma industry. Tom also oversees security, quality, and compliance operations.

He has previously worked as a brand marketing executive with Fortune 500 companies Unilever, Reckitt and Proctor-Silex.

Peggy Quinlan

SVP and GM, Logistics Services

Peggy joined MedPoint Digital in its first year of business and has overseen meeting operations at MedPoint for 30 years.

Peggy has been instrumental in positioning MedPoint as a category leader for hybrid and onsite meetings. She started her career in the medical education division of Publicis Health.

Tim Curry

SVP, Account Development

Tim joined MedPoint Digital in 2006 and in his current role leads an elite team focused on strategic global program development.

Tim has extensive experience consulting with biopharma clients on effective applications across a broad suite of digital platforms and services. Tim holds an MBA from the University of Chicago.

Ilona Gregory

VP, Client Services

Ilona joined MedPoint Digital in 2006 and her current challenge is optimizing operational excellence for the best-in-class Proximity virtual speaker program team.

Ilona focuses on fostering strong relationships and consulting with clients on program strategy. Ilona has also helped guide the development of TriPort® Trial Portal.

Filip Matakovic

SVP, Client Services

Filip joined MedPoint Digital in 2001 and directs a talented team of Client Services  professionals dedicated to responsive service and effective solutions to leading biopharma clients.

Filip has extensive experience in delivering strategic solutions for clinical research, marketing, and clinical study sites. He holds a BA degree from cross-town Northwestern University.

Brian R. McFadden

SVP, CTO Technology Services

Brian joined MedPoint Digital in 1996 and now leads the Technology Services group, supporting application development, IT systems, software validation and quality systems.

Brian manages a diverse team of highly skilled technology professionals in the development of advanced, innovative, reliable and compliant solutions for the biopharma industry.

THE 2010s

2015 – The TriPort® Trial Portal is enhanced with several versatile new functions, such Study Tools, the eReg BinderTM, an upgraded Metrics Center, and the SUSAR eSafeTM.
2015 – MedPoint launches a new generation of Cloud Portals for marketing services, including the CirrusTM Virtual Speaker Portal, CumulusTM Training Portal, and StratusTM Consulting Program Portal.
2015 – MedPoint develops its first mobile apps for clinical trials, including the MyPortTM App for study subjects, and the SitePortTM App for investigator sites.
2014 – Virtual speaker program activity accelerates at several biopharm companies served by MedPoint, in part driven by changes in HCP preferences due to the Open Payments Act.
2014 – MedPoint supports its first virtual clinical trial, with digital support for patient pre-screening, HIPAA forms, online Informed Consent, video imaging files, and clinician contracting.
2013 – Launch of TriPort® v8 Trial Portal, a new SaaS platform with major advances in performance, quality, administrative tools, reporting and functionality.
2012 – Launch of the MochaTM Mobile Channel portal, providing pharma reps with new tools for recorded and live peer-to-peer interaction via PCs and mobile devices.
2011 – Our company re-brands as MedPoint Digital, Inc. to better reflect our focus on digital technology and improve collaboration with leading medical communications and clinical research organizations.
2010 – Launch of the SDX (Study Document Exchange), a validated platform enabling sponsors, CROs and sites to rapidly bundle, sequence, route and complete regulatory documents.

THE 2000s

2009 – The PeerPoint Medical Education Institute, LLC is spun-off as an independent company, with no business ties to MedPoint.
2008 – MedPoint enhances its TriPort® Trial Portal with new centers for Documents, Alerts, and Tracking Reporting.
2007 – MedPoint integrates its virtual meeting services with the compliance management system of a leading pharma company, establishing direct data exchange between trusted servers.
2006 – The Marketing Services Group strategically realigns to focus on virtual speaker programs, virtual training, and virtual advisory/consulting programs.
2005 – The Research Services Group is formed with the mission of improving study training and providing digital tools to aid the performance of investigator sites.
2004 – MedPoint relocates into new corporate offices, in Evanston, IL, featuring an expanded TelePoint (Elevation® Virtual Meetings) Center and state-of-the-art technology infrastructure.
2003 – MedPoint produces its first clinical trial website, providing global access to study training, documents and forms, with tracking of users and task completion.
2002 – PeerPoint Medical Education Institute, LLC is created as an independent CME subsidiary company, with separate leadership and a dedicated team of medical education professionals.
2001 / 2002 – In the wake of the 9/11 attacks, with business travel severely curtailed, MedPoint responds with a rapid expansion of virtual meeting services and web-based solutions for training, communications, documents and collaboration.
2000 – MedPoint conducts its first international virtual Investigator Meeting, connecting sponsors in the U.S. with investigator sites in Europe. In subsequent years this activity grows rapidly.

THE 1990s

1999 – A major update of the TelePoint system (Elevation® Virtual Meetings) is released, and virtual meeting activity surges.
1998 – Meeting planning services expand rapidly with major clients such as Abbott, Aventis (RPR), Glaxo, Lilly, Pfizer and Sanofi. The company opens offices with planning staff in Cary, NC and Indianapolis, IN.
1998 – The first series of learning modules for clinical research are completed on CD. Over the following two years, MedPoint produces over 200 training series on CD for new clinical trials.
1997 – MedPoint creates a ground-breaking computer-based program, the Pharmaco-Economic Rapid Analyzer, allowing pharma reps to collaborate with HCPs on cost effectiveness analysis.
1996 – MedPoint develops its first education program website, supporting attendee registration and providing downloadable resources for a peer speaker program.
1995 – MedPoint produces its first medical professional website for a pharmaceutical product, Calcijex (Abbott). The website includes a library of newsletters, medical literature and education resources.
1994 – MedPoint executes its first international medical meeting in London, England. Over the next decade MedPoint will execute over 120 meetings in international venues in all global regions.
1993 – MedPoint launches TelePointTM WebConferencing, the first virtual meeting platform in the medical industry, for a sales division of Abbott.
1993 – Tom Cooney, Executive VP and CTO, establishes the DataPoint Division, which pioneers the use of computer technology for pharmaceutical marketing and clinical research support.
1991 – Peggy Quinlan, Senior Vice President, forms the MeetingPoint Division, which grows into a leading meeting planning group serving healthcare companies.
1991 – The company completes its first medical education program for Centocor, now a unit of J&J.
1990 – Bill Cooney, President and CEO, founds MedPoint as a medical education group dedicated to innovative communication services to the medical industry and the healthcare community.
