Thomas J. Cooney

Tom Cooney joined MedPoint in 1993 and started the company's digital communications business. During his tenure as CTO of MedPoint, Tom has helped establish the company as a true innovator of digital media for medical communications.
During the 1980s, Tom built a career in consumer products, including executive brand marketing positions with Lever Bros. and Proctor-Silex, two Fortune 500 companies. While in these positions, Tom pushed for more aggressive use of a new and exciting technology, the personal computer.
When Tom joined MedPoint in 1993, few people had e-mail or even knew the term "Internet." But Tom had a vision that PCs and digital communications would transform healthcare, and so he led trail-blazing initiatives that have become mainstream tactics for medical communications. These include eMedia applications such as computer-based training, branded websites, analyzers, database-enabled websites, and interactive on-line media.
Tom drove MedPoint's early development of the TelePoint WebConference system and as CTO has presided over MedPoint's growth into the global best-in-class provider of medical eMeetings.
Tom has an M.B.A. from Miami University and a B.A. from Northwestern University. He is married and lives in Chicago, IL.
